We have recently registered for the green schools programme with the aim of receiving a Green Flag for our school from An Taisce.

We will be keeping you informed of upcoming events and activities linked to this initiative.

Teacher Aine Toomey is co-ordinating the programme for the school and the Committee will consist of pupils, parents and teachers.

We are working hard to make our school even greener. The Committee has carried out numerous surveys in the school to identify where we can improve on our recycling and where we can reduce and eliminate waste and litter. Track our progress here with our survey findings.

Our Trip to Mungret Recycling Centre

On Friday 5th of February 2010, our Green Schools Committee visited the recycling centre at Mungret, Co. Limerick. This centre enables the people of Limerick to recycle their waste. The centre accepts a wide range of household material which is suitable for recycling. The committee brought some recyclable materials that the school no longer used to the plant. They also got a talk from one of the workers informing them of what happens to the materials once it leaves their local recycling centre.
